My chain of thoughts was interrupted by the sound of a car pulling in

My chain of thoughts was interrupted by the sound of a car pulling in. It was past 1 AM, his usual time to return home. I lay down on the couch, closing my eyes slightly, pretending to be asleep. He came in.. limping, and went straight to the closet. He came drunk, again. A few minutes later, he emerged, now in his sweatpants and a shirt. I tried hard to hold back my tears, but they threatened to fall down.

He sat down beside me, gently taking my hand in his. His voice was heavy with emotion as he said "I love you, sweetheart. I love you so much... please, don't hate me." A sharp pain shot through my chest as I struggled to keep my composure.

As usual, he picked me up carrying me to bed, thinking I was asleep. He laid me down carefully, adjusting the pillow under my head. Just as he was about to get up I opened my eyes , our eyes met. His were red and misty, filled with pain and exhaustion. He lifted his hand toward my face but hesitated, pulling it back but I stopped him by holding his collar. He tried to pull away, but I tightened my grip, sitting up on the bed. I pulled him closer, our faces just inches apart, tears filling both our eyes. I kissed his forehead, his eyes, his cheeks, his nose... until our lips were almost touching.

"Vihaan..." I whispered, my voice trembling. He swallowed hard, tears rolling down his face. It had been days since I called him Vihaan instead of Ranveer, his name from my lips broke something inside him. He collapsed onto my lap, crying uncontrollably. My heart shattered as I watched him.

The man I thought was unbreakable was now crying in front of me. "It's been days kaveri...days that you called me vihaan, even when you were talking with others also you were addressing me as Ranveer" he was observing me everytime.

I ran my fingers through his hair, my own tears finally falling. "Kaveri... please don't hate me. Please. I can't bear it. It's hurting... it's killing me" he choked out, his voice raw with pain. I closed my eyes, furious with myself. I had hurt him deeply. "I'm sorry" he continued, "I didn't mean to hurt you or betray you. I was scared... scared of losing you, the light of my life." He buried his face against my waist, clinging to me like his life depended on it.

I trailed my fingers gently along the back of his neck and felt the rash there- an allergic reaction, no doubt from soya that he had eaten. I applied medicine to soothe it while humming softly in response to his words."Everyone hates me, Kaveri" he murmured, his voice laced with despair. I placed my head against his. He breathed hard "I'm living in darkness, Kaveri. It is suffocating. Once, there was light in my life... but it didn't last." His words confused me.

"Can I ask you something?" I said and he nodded "I shouted at you , and even pushed you away then why are you still with me" I asked caressing his hair. "Kyunki tum sirf meri mohabbat nahi, tum meri aadat ho, which I can never leave" he said which broke my heart with guilt

(You are not only my love, you are my habit)

"I lost you once, and I can't do it again" he said, his voice breaking as he began to panic. I hugged him tightly, pulling him closer. "Shh... calm down, Vihaan. No one hates you. Just give them a chance" I whispered, trying to keep my voice steady. Together, we lay down on the bed, my arms wrapped securely around him. I unbuttoned his shirt first few buttons because his breathing is uneven, almost as if he is struggling to catch breath. I couldn't help but wonder why he is wearing shirts at night instead of comfortable t-shirts.

His grip around my waist tightened. Slowly, he leaned into my neck, pressing soft, peppered kisses along my skin. "I love you" he murmured against my collarbone. "Vihaan...ahh.." I moaned softly as he nipped at my collarbone, soothing the sting with his tongue. "You are mine" he whispered possessively in my ear. "Mark me as yours, sweetheart" he said kissing my neck and down my clevage, his voice filled with need.

I kissed his neck and left a gentle mark there. But before I could soothe the spot, he pulled back, his intense gaze locking with mine. "Please don't hate me Kaveri" he said, his voice cracking. He cradled his head to my clevage and kissed there before snuggling more into me. "I will always be with you." I whispered my fingers caressed his hair as he repeated the same words over and over "Don't leave me kaveri..". Eventually, we both fell asleep in each other's arms, finding solace in the warmth of our embrace.

He was driving through the quiet roads, the only sounds heard is hum of the car engine and the occasional chirp of distant insects. "I'll be there in a minute" Vihaan said, his voice low and steady, before disconnecting the call and shifting his hand on the steering wheel. A moment later, he pulled the car to the side and got out.

The late evening rain poured down, soaking his raincoat as he walked toward the parkโ”€a place usually full of life, but tonight, it was silent, as if something dark was coming.

The sound of raindrops hit the car as its trunk door lifted. Kaveri stepped out, her eyes darting around as she whispered to herself, "I thought he was going to his ... but why is he here?" She tugged her hair back, trying to shield herself from the rain as she walked into the park. Her eyes scanned the shadowy surroundings, the sound of rain mixing with the soft hum of distant insects. An uneasy feeling gripped her heart, and her dress clung to her body, damp with the chill.

A scream echoed faintly in the distance, causing her heart to race. Her legs trembled, but she kept moving forward, unable to shake the feeling that something is horribly wrong.

Through the thick downpour, she saw a trail of red spilling from the side of some bushes , flowing out mixed with rain water. Her chest tightened, and her breath quickened, her heartbeat pounding in her ears. She moved closer, her legs shaking. Her eyes widened in horror as she saw a hand through the bushes-the source of the blood and a human drenched in blood. She gasped, instinctively clamping a hand over her mouth to stifle the scream rising in her throat.

"What is RV doing here?" she whispered, her voice barely audible as her breath became shallow and uneven. Her instincts screamed for her to run, but she couldn't-something deep inside told her she had to find him, as danger painted itself before her eyes.

As she crept closer, her ears rang with more screams-urgent, desperate, unmistakably it is a human's voice. Summoning every ounce of strength, she walked toward the playground slide, where the noise seemed to be coming from. "Ace, we're running out of time" a voice broke through the rain, and Kaveri froze, crouching low to hide herself in the bushes as the voice came from just on the other side.

"Who caught the vehicle?" a familiar yet unrecognized voice made her heart skip a beat. His voice, colder than the rain, demanded, "Those weapons are highly important. Where is the vehicle?" Vihaan stepped closer towards a man in his late fifties, who staggered back, barely holding himself up because of his injured leg.

Vihaan smirked, extending his hand towards Calix who was standing beside him, passed him a knife. Vihaan ran his finger across the sharp blade, grinning as a few drops of blood fell from his finger. "Hm, impressively sharp, Calix" he said to Calix ,looking up at the man before him, sucking his blood from the cut on his finger. Without a second thought, Vihaan drove the knife into the man's left shoulder. The man screamed, the sound raw and desperate.

"Shh... Quiet" Vihaan hissed, gripping the back of the man's neck as he ripped the knife out painfully. Blood splattered everywhere.

Kaveri pressed her hand to her mouth, her body frozen in horror. She couldn't recognize Vihaan's face because of the raincoat, but she could hear the cruelty in the voice. Her heart raced, panic taking over as she tried to control her breathing. "Where are you, Vihaan?" she whispered through her tears as her eyes looked around.

"Do you know you have a very sensitive nerve here?" Vihaan's voice was low, almost playful, sending chills through the man. He pressed the blade just below the man's ear, the cold steel slowly pushing deeper. "Shh... Don't scream," he whispered coldly, his tone dripping with cruelty. "It makes it better for me-gives me a kind of heaven like satisfaction. And that," he smirked, "is very dangerous for you."

His voice dropped, becoming darker and more menacing. "If I cut just two inches deeper, all your blood will drain out, leaving nothing of you. You'll suffer... and slowly die," he said, the calmness in his voice making it even more terrifying.

Before Vihaan could push the knife deeper, a woman's scream cut through the tension. Vihaan glanced at Calix. "Yes, Ace" Calix nodded and moved through the bushesโ”€the only thing separating kaveri from them. She panicked, standing up and trying to run, but the muddy ground caused her to slip. She scrambled to her feet, heart pounding, only to see Calix rushing toward her with a knife. Her hands trembled as she saw him approach.

"Please, no! please.... RV!!" she screamed, desperation cracking her voice as she searched for Vihaan.

Vihaan, glancing from behind the bushes, saw her standing there, eyes wide with fear. "Kaveri! What the hell is she doing here?" he whispered, his grip tightening on the knife in his hand.

Taking advantage of Vihaan's distraction, the man shoved him away and ran, heading straight toward Calix and Kaveri near the exit. Snapping back to his senses, Vihaan swiftly pulled the gun from his holster and fired. The bullet tore into the man's shoulder, forcing a scream out of him.

Kaveri shut her eyes tightly in fear, covering her ears at the sound of the gunshot. Slowly, she opened her eyes, her jaw dropping in shock as realization hit herโ”€Vihaan was the one behind the mask.

"Calix, hold! I warn youโ”€don't you dare touch her!" Vihaan shouted, his voice thunderous as he moved toward them. Kaveri stood frozen in place, her body numb with fear. The man's screams grew louder, raw and desperate, echoing in the rain-soaked air.

Calix stepped away from kaveri on his boss order and pushed the man to his feet, holding him in place, while Vihaan marched toward Kaveri. His face twisted with fury, a monster in human form, and it made her fear him even more. His jaw clenched tightly. Without a word, he ran his hand back of her neck and yanked her forward, pressing her face into his chest as if shielding her from the horrifying scene.

"You will die, and everyone you care about will die too" the man growled, clutching his injured hand. Vihaan's eyes burned with fury. His grip on Kaveri's hair tightened as he pulled her closer, and without hesitation, he fired another bullet, this time into the man's head. The sound of the shot made Kaveri flinch in his arms, but he held her tightly, not letting her go.

Vihaan pulled back, his gaze cold and unfeeling, walking toward the already lifeless body. He knelt beside the man, placing the gun on his chest and firing again. Then, his eyes locked with Kaveri's scared eyes, and without breaking the stare, he shot another bullet and she flinched. His hands, stained with blood, were proof of his ruthlessness.

"You can't be a normal college student" she said, her voice shivering not only from the coldness of the rain but also from fear. Kaveri stumbled back, terror clear in her eyes.

Vihaan stood, walking toward her, blood still dripping from his hands "You shouldn't have been here." His voice was dark with fury. Before Kaveri could respond he grabbed her throat, his grip firm and painful, and slammed his lips on hers in a fiery kiss. The rain poured down around them, adding more fuel to his burning anger .

He bit at her lips, nipping and tugging, his need for control and dominance evident in his harsh lips movements against hers. He tried to force his tongue into her mouth, but she didn't let him in. Kaveri stood on her toes, her hands trying to push him away, struggling to break free, but he didn't budge. Instead, he bit her lip harder, tasting her blood, and forced his tongue between her lips exploring every corner of her mouth, deepening the kiss, taking everything from her as if to claim her completely.

He pulled away with a sharp suck on her lower lip, his breathing heavy. "You shouldn't be here, Kaveri" he muttered, his voice low and dangerous, as they both struggled to catch their breath. His hot breath brushed against her lips, and he didn't let her pull away, keeping her face pressed close , he closed his eyes attaching their foreheads. "Now you have seen who the person you loved really is."

He whispered near her lips , leaving a soft kiss there. "Do you still want me, huh?" His grip on her neck tightened.

"Huh?" He chuckled darkly, opening his eyes and noticed the fear in her eyes. "This fear... I love it in other's eyes. But yours..." His expression shifted, and something inside him cracked. His grip loosened slightly. "This fear in your eyes," he continued, his voice softer now, "It's like a punch to my heart." His thumb moved in slow, gentle circles on her pulse point.

Kaveri gasped as the blood from his hands stained her skin. He stepped back, turning around. Calix stood frozen, staring at Vihaan, noticing emotions he had never seen in Vihaan before.

Vihaan's anger was still evident, but there was something else in his eyes nowโ”€something deeper. Kaveri's voice caught in her throat.

"I don't love yo-"

Before she could finish, Vihaan spun back around, grabbing her throat again and forcing her meet his gaze. He sank his teeth into the skin of her collarbone, biting down hard. "I dare you to say that" he warned, his voice low and venomous.

His eyes met hers, burning with intensity. "I know you fucking love me." Her tears mixed with the rain, falling down her face. He circled his hand around her making her stand on his feet.

"I'm a person with no kindness to offer. I'm the monster people fear" he growled, his lips brushing against hers. "The dark world calls me Ace." He sucked her blood from her lower lip, sending a shiver through her body. "Those fucking sweet black orbs shine with love that poisons my heart, weakens my soul, and makes me hate myself for something that should never swirl in my heart." His voice cracked, filled with self-loathing, as his grip on her neck loosened, her eyes filled with a mix of fear, anger, and mostly, love for him.
